I was thinking of having a few beers to calm my nerves before I have a tattoo - is this advisable?
No is the short and only answer to this question. Often we have clients who turn up at our studio wanting work done whilst they are deeply under the influence of alcohol, not only does alcohol thin the blood, meaning that you will bleed heavier during the tattooing process, you will are also putting your body under strain that you may not be able to handle if intoxicated ... therefore we DO NOT tattoo anybody who we deem to be to drunk.
How do I treat my tattoo after it has been done?
A tattoo is with you for life, therefore you want it too look as fresh and detailed as long as possible. A tattoo is initially a flesh wound, therefore open to infection which could affect the clarity of your tattoo if infected heavily. We advise all clients to use an antiseptic healing cream such as Savlon, which can be bought over the counter at all chemists, pharmaceutical outlets and most shops. Apply the cream several times a day until the tattoo has passed the scabbing and peeling process, which usually lasts a maximum of 10 days. Continue to apply the cream even after the tattoo seems to have healed completely, as although the surface may seem healed, there will still be open pores in and around the area of tattooing that could possibly become infected ... the better you look after your tattoo at this early stage will affect its appearance for many years to come. ?
Does having a tattoo hurt?
This really depends on your pain threshold and where on your body you have chosen to be artistically stamped. A tattoo means having a motorised needle rapidly inserted into your skin, of course this will not tickle ... but it does not have to be unbearably uncomfortable. If you select to have a tattoo on the more sensitive regions of your body, then the chances are you will feel it more whilst the tattooing is taking place as apposed to having it done on a stronger and more versatile area. Our tattooists do everything they can to make the experience as painless as possible for you.
I have heard of many different thoughts on what is best to use on the skin as an aftercare treatment, what do you advise?
It is true, depending on what tattoo studio you attend, depends on what they advise you use to apply to the tattooed area after completion. Rising Dragon Tattoo Studio recommends that you use an antiseptic cream such as Savlon, several times a day in order to achieve quicker healing results as well as long term tattoo clarity.
Do I need to book an appointment to see you?
It is strongly advised that you book in advance for an appointment, this is due to popular demand, however Rising Dragon Tattoo Studio does operate a walk-in service where clients can browse the extensive tattoo galleries on display in the waiting area of the studio. We can not guarantee how long you may have to wait, however we do offer the facility where you can turn up and arrange a mutually convenient time to come back later in the day, even if this means working outside of our usual opening times.
Are all of your tools correctly sterilised and maintained?
Yes, most certainly. We have all of the latest sterilising and cleaning equipment set up in our studio, prior to ALL tattoo's being carried out, all freshly sterilised equipment is used, and all needles and other components are replaced for new. Rising Dragon Tattoo Studio operates to all Health & Safety regulations in the interest of the clients, and the business's, well being.
Do you do custom work as well as from your galleries?
Our Tattoo Artists are extensively trained and experienced to be able to create a custom design based on each individual clients needs, thoughts and ideas - as well as being able to create a perfect piece of art from the studio gallery ranges. If you have an idea of what you are looking for, then please feel free to talk to us and we will happily design a tattoo based on your input, we will continue to amend the design until it fits your requirements ... after all, a tattoo is for life, not just for fun.
I have heard that some skin types can not be tattooed, is this correct?
No, all human skin is capable of being tattooed ... it is true that people have different skin types and some can be easier to tattoo on that others, although the finished result will always be that of pure quality. We will be able to tell from looking at the skin around the area you want the tattoo, whether it will be an easier or more time consuming, and we will advise on this before works commence. |
